Green Ripples Festival

The Green Ripple Festival is one of the biggest non-governmental art and culture festivals in Taiwan. The whole festival lasts for 2 months in the summer, with more than 100 artists and 30 art groups involved. I was in charge of the festival's branding and visual identity design.

In that year, the theme of the festival was titled ”Bring out your inner child”. My design concept was inspired by one of my childhood activities, cloud gazing — lying on the grass, watching clouds in the sky and imagining their shapes as different creatures.

I used a peanut-like shape as a base pattern to form my image, and combined them abstractly rather than realistically. Viewers can use their imagination to decide what “things” they see in many different posters.

The designs are purposely abstract like Rorschach ink blots to allow each viewer to use his or her own imagination, inspiring everyone to see a unique image, akin to cloud gazing.
